Access to Agatha Christie Estate

The Anchorstone Café overlooks the River Dart at Dittisham and is situated directly next to the pontoon thus placing Dittisham as a great way of accessing the Agatha Christie Estate at Greenway. See: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/greenway/

A ferry leaves Dittisham on demand throughout the day and the Christie Estate is a 10 minute walk from Greenway Quay. See: www.greenwayferry.co.uk

Directions

If you are happy with driving in the narrow Devon lanes, it is possible to get to Dittisham from Totnes via Tuckenhay, East Cornworthy, etc.
However, for those who don’t like farm tracks take the “main” road A361 from Totnes to Kingsbridge then at the BP Petrol Station take the left hand turn onto the A3122 sign posted to Dartmouth. After around 4 miles take the left hand turn at the Sportsmans Arms sign posted to Dittisham. Follow this road all the way into the village turning right immediately in front of the Red Lion Inn. Follow this road ‘The Level’ for ¼ mile and just after the red telephone box you will find a car park on your left. It is best to park your car here and on foot turn left out of the car park and left down into ‘Manor Street’. We are at the bottom of the hill on your right.

It is possible to park on the shingle beach outside the Café at low tide – however, there are no turning points if the tide is in and you must be capable of reversing a good way up a very steep and narrow road. Please call us to check the tide times before you drive down the hill!!
